Gerhard Hoffstaedter and I have an opinion piece over at The Drum. We note that at this election, everything is at stake. While Barisan Nasional, the ruling coalition has overseen unprecedented economic growth in Malaysia for the past five decades and ensured social stability, it had achieved this at the expense of human rights. The opposition in turn is enticing the electorate with the promise of greater transparency and better governance including human rights standards should it come to power.
