New Mandala is pleased to announce a new feature – Book Zone – to be offered in conjunction with the National Library of Australia (Asian Collections). We will regularly feature Asian language material from the NLA’s collection. The NLA has an extensive collection of Thai language material covering a wide range of social, political, economic and cultural topics. The collection includes monographs, newspapers and journals. The NLA also actively collects Lao, Burmese and Cambodian publications and these collections are growing steadily. Holdings include rare Lao publications published before 1975 in both Lao and French.
Australian New Mandala readers not resident in Canberra are encouraged to use inter-library loan through their local library to borrow books from the NLA collection, while photocopies can be ordered by anyone through the Library’s online Copies Direct service. We hope the Book Zone feature will provide a small window into the exciting world of regional language publishing.
