Ross Tapsell is Senior Lecturer at the Australian National University's School of Culture, History and Language and Director of the ANU Malaysia Institute. He researches digital technologies and their relationship to culture, nationalism, media, and politics in Island Southeast Asia. His latest book 'Media Power in Indonesia: Oligarchs, Citizens and the Digital Revolution' (2017) is published by Rowman and Littlefield.

Liam Gammon is a PhD candidate at the Department of Political and Social Change in the Australian National University's Coral Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs. He has been the editor of New Mandala since April 2017.
