Rebecca Strating is a lecturer in politics at La Trobe University, Australia.

Her research covers the fields of international relations and politics, primarily focusing on Timor-Leste and Indonesia.

She completed her PhD 'East Timor's Pursuit of Democratic Independence' at Monash University in 2013, and since then has published in academic journals such as Asian Security, Contemporary Southeast Asia and Journal of Pacific History.

Her book 'Social Democracy in East Timor' was published by Routledge in October 2015.
