Keith Barney is Associate Professor at the ANU Crawford School of Public Policy, where his research focuses on political ecology and natural resource policy across Southeast Asia. Rini Astuti is Senior Lecturer at the ANU-based Australian National Centre for the Public Awareness of Science. Her research uses social science theory in studies of climate and environmental change in Southeast Asia, especially Indonesia. Yayan Indriatmoko is a Social and Environmental Safeguard Specialist at PT Indonesia Infrastructure Finance and a graduate of the Crawford School’s Master of Environmental Management and Development program. He writes here in a personal capacity.
